Here he was standing just before a log bridge hanging high off the ground. Raven heaved a sigh. Great, just what he needed. Couldn't it have been lower to the ground? The midnight Teros chuckled half-heartedly to himself. Of course not. Such was the way of life on Phera. There was always a bridge that had to be crossed...unfortunately, a lot of them were high. Closing his eyes, he slowly padded his way across the expanse of the bridge, only opening them to make sure he kept his footing. Not noticing the wet moss several feet in front of him, Raven slipped as soon as his paw came into contact with it. And then...he fell.

The sun was warm that day, not horribly so, as there were clouds drifting through the sky causing shadows to be cast upon the ground below and allow cooling shade for the wolves walking beneath the sky. Daciana was running, her feet pounding the earth beneath her as she traversed the terrain at amazing speed for such a small wolf. Her heart beat in tune with that pounding of her paws, filling her ears with the pulse of blood, it was soothing sound to the wolf. Her ears relaxed against her skull, trapping that sound inside the canals, and with each drop of her paws against the ground her ears twitched upward.
Suddenly, Daci's wings flew open and she pushed down with them, taking off with one beat of the huge appendages. Her light form weighed her down none, and as she flew through the sky her flight path took on a twisting pattern. Flips were introduced and she felt the thrill of adrenaline rush through her. Her blue eyes fell shut of their own accord and she just enjoyed the rush that pushed endorphin tingles through her body. The cool fingers of the wind carded through her fur, brushing against her skin and making her sigh with pleasure.
She was over the cliffs, she could tell by the familiar scents of the rock, but then she smelled an unfamiliar smell. A strange wolf was here, her eyes flew open and she looked down just in time to see the black fur of a canine falling from a log. She started, her heart pounding with fear for the wolf's life. Then she did something that was so natural to her and yet so unnatural to most wolves they would balk at the idea, she folded her wings and allowed herself to plummet like a peregrine falcon down to the ground.
She fell passed him and then altered her course to stop herself, throwing her wings open and pushing upward again. She flew up to try and snag the larger wolf's scruff with her jaws. She knew she couldn't stop his fall completely but she could at least slow it.

The midnight Teros was falling. Falling. Falling. Then suddenly, something what felt like fangs gripped the scruff of his neck which abruptly stopped his decent, least for a few short seconds. After those few seconds were over however, he began to descend again, only it was slower than before. His head whipped back and forth, looking for what had him by the scruff of the neck, but at the current angle, he couldn't see much except for...Raven immediately closed his eyes. He may have just been a little closer to solid ground...but he was still pretty high up. The Teros was thankful though to whatever had caught him. With his eyes closed, he began to calm, his focus returning to him. His black ears twitched as he heard the flapping of wings. A flying creature had caught him. Which then begged the question: Was he gonna get eaten? He sure hoped not.
Raven then cleared his throat. If it wasn't a wolf, he'd still be able to communicate with it. "What is your intention, creature?" he asked calmly.

A slight grin curved her fur filled mouth at his question. She allowed them to lower faster to the ground. Her wings billowing out to catch the air and then slowly pumping to keep them from falling to fast. Soon they were on the ground and she had yet to answer him, given the fact that she had, had her mouth full of fur. Daci relaxed her grip on his scruff, her jaw popping as it opened. She finally got a good look at the wolf and inhaled deeply, he was definitely a loner as no pack scent was on him. But he was a handsome loner, she stood slightly taller than him but he was much more muscled. Daci's height was all in her legs though, making her much more feminine than he was.
A smirk once again curled the corners of her mouth, but this time it was a slightly mischevious smile. She walked away from him slightly, allowing her wings to fold up against her body, which was severely dwarfed by the huge appendages. When she smiled at him, she was the god observing a wolf that she had helped create. Or at least helped create his genetics. It would be strange to say she had created him exactly and then feel this flirtatious pull toward him.
Her eyes twinkled as she said, "If I told you my intentions this wouldn't be nearly as fun, now would it?" Daciana allowed her tail to swish back and forth with amusement, the pale blue streaks in it catching the sunlight and shining like they had specks of silver in them. She tilted her head to the side as she said, "Now the rescuer has a question and the rescued must answer truthfully as it is only fair to. What is a loner doing in Nerque without the alpha's permission?"
Her voice wasn't stern or angry, it was merely curious. Though if he was here to hurt her followers she would kill him without a second thought. She protected her friends fiercely.

Raven heaved a breath of relief as his midnight black paws touched the ground. It had felt good to be on his paws again. The Teros padded a few paw steps forward before turning to face his rescuer. His eyes widened some. A wolf with wings? Now that was something he didn't see everyday. He saw her look over him and he did the same regarding her. For a winged wolf, she looked more lightweight than he was. But there was also a beauty about her, but something he couldn't quite place as if it was on the tip of his tongue. A sort of vibrance emanated from her being. She then spoke and he listened to her words only to hear what sounded like flirting coming from her muzzle. Wasn't exactly what he was expecting, but that was fine with him. It was then followed by a question as to why he was in Nerque without permission. What was Nerque? "I beg your pardon?" he asked quizzically. "What are you talking about?"

Surprise filled Daci when he said he had no idea what she was talking about. She ruffled her wings to show her emotions and her head tilted to the side. But she supposed since he a loner that it made sense. How could she expect a wolf who didn't spend time with any of the packs to know what was going on in them. But did that also mean that he didn't know what she and the other gods were? That would be interesting given the fact he was talking face to face with one right now. But then again none of the wolves knew who the gods were, they didn't even know that the gods were in Phera.
It was an amazing sense of freedom when no one knew her true identity. It was almost like flying. She was free when she was flying. Free to do what she wanted when she wanted. She had a disguise as a regular wolf when she was with the pack, which was almost as good as freedom. She could pretend to be someone completely different, and still feel that rush of adrenaline when someone came close to finding out who and what she was. They never did find out, she always weaseled her way out of it. She wondered how long that would last though.
Daci spoke then, "You are in the Nerque Pack Lands. Do you know about the war that is going on?" The war is something all of the wolves should know about even if they weren't told about it in the beginning, just because it was important to know not to wrong the Facina and Aequus packs. They didn't take to loners lightly, Nerque was much more welcoming. Aequus accepted loners, though they were vicious when it came to their laws, and Facina was just all around crazy in Daci's opinion. She liked Nerque but that could be just because she was biased. She focused back on the male before her and waited for his response.

Raven tilted his head in confusion. War? There was a war? His whole life, a war had been going on around him and neither he or his parents had realized it? The midnight black Teros looked past the winged wolf into a memory, the night his parents had been murdered by a pack of vicious wolves. Had the murders just been casualties of war or had it been something more malicious? He couldn't be certain. The only thing Raven was certain of was the look in the pack leader's eyes. There was darkness there...and nothing more.
Slowly, he pulled himself out of the memory and landed his gaze gently on the winged wolf. He shook his head. "No," he answered, his voice soft, as if the breeze was competing with it to see who was the softest of the two. "I am not familiar with the war. Never have been." His eyes wandered to the expanse of land before them. How many more places in Phera had he not been to? He returned his dark blue gaze to her. "I've been on my own for awhile...all this is quite new to me."

Daci's ears cupped to capture his soft voice. She nodded but couldn't imagine being alone for such a long time. It seemed like he'd been alone for a very long time given the way he spoke about it. It was her nature to be surrounded by wolves, some wolves she knew could be alone for a long time. In fact they preferred it. But still she knew she would be driven insane without the contact of another wolf, without someone to speak to or touch. She smiled understandingly anyways, sympathetically.
Suddenly, two orbs were hovering around the wolf in front of her. Her gaze slipped to them, everything else seemed to take on a tan tinge. She watched as the souls hovered behind the wolf, little balls of light in a world of muted golds and tans. They were pure white, the color of good souls. The color of those who were pure hearted and hadn't died in sin. She wondered who these wolves were, why they followed this wolf. As just as sudden as they appeared the disappeared, it lasted merely a few seconds. She sighed and shook her head, clearing her mind once again.
She responded, "There is a war going on between two packs, the Aequus and Facina pack. My pack the Nerque is trying to make peace with them. Of course it's not working out too well, the gods influence started it." She said the last sentence with bitterness tainting her voice. She didn't approve of gods making their followers solve their problems for them. It was wrong and the reason Daci didn't influence Nerque with her decisions, she merely protected them the best she could. It was all she could do in this time of war, she wouldn't take sides, she was too frustrated with either of them to become allies.

The midnight Teros tilted his head as the winged wolf's gaze slipped away from him. What was she looking at? Raven glanced behind him briefly. Nothing was there. His dark blue eyes returned to her questioningly, asking a silent question. But at the moment, she seemed to be answering another. He tilted his head to the other side at the mention of gods. So, if he understood things correctly, a war sparked between two packs because of gods. How much sense did that make? To him, none at all. He had been raised alone by his parents, so he hadn't seen much of Phera outside the small area he had lived in or had experienced any kind of religion. Everything was foreign to him. Where he was now was the farthest he had ever traveled before. Slowly, he sat on his haunches and brought a paw to his face, grooming it gently, after which he placed it back down on the ground. "Why exactly are these two sides fighting? What's the reason?" His curiosity was genuine.

The frustration enveloped her, not at the wolf before her but at the gods who used to be such good friends of hers and each other. She raised her wings as her voice became angered and she went into explanation. "They are fighting because the gods they worshiped told them to," her eyes narrowed and she practically spat the words out. "The gods used their influence over the packs they were sworn to protect and care for to solve their problems." A snarl had entered her voice showing her further anger.
Daciana finally finished her rant and her chest was heaving with her frustration and fury. She finally relaxed her wings against her body, making her appear much smaller again and she seemed to come back to reality. She closed her eyes for a few seconds before finally opening them and saying, "Sorry, I just am a little pissed off about that, I guess." Daci smiled shakily trying to make the air around her less charged with the fury she had let go. She cleared her throat and said, "I don't even know your name and here I am unloading a bunch of problems onto you that have nothing to do with you. Hell, you might not even want to know all this stuff."
She moved into diplomat mode and nodded her head slightly, "I am Daci, from Nerque, who are you?" She smiled again and felt herself relax. She never said her full name to any of the normal wolves. There was too much danger in them figuring out she was the god and not just named after Daciana. She hoped the spirits would not come back, she didn't need to see them again. Especially didn't need to talk to them. She hated when souls talked to her, because they usually asked something of her.

Raven grinned slightly at the winged wolf named Daci. "On the contrary, I'm glad you told me. The more I know about Phera, the better." The midnight Teros found himself chuckling. "It would make life as a loner easier for me." Then he stood, stretching his limbs, the curvy white markings on his body more visible now. He padded a few paw steps toward Daci and bowed his head. "The name is Raven and it's a pleasure to meet you, my lady." His grin widened as he straightened his composure. "Forgive my formality, it gets ahead of me sometimes."
"But," he went on, padding up to the she-wolf face to face. "If you want my honest opinion, god or no, everyone must think for theirselves. If we rely solely on what another creature tells us, how can we even rely on ourselves?"

Daci smiled as he bowed before her and called her a lady. Few wolves ever called her a lady. As he responded to her comments on the gods she tilted her head. It wasn't that simple, it was dangerous to go against a god's desires. They had created the wolves to be the way they were now. It would so easy to unravel them, to force them back into the bodies that they had when they were the ancients. The other gods were vicious and unrelenting. They would do anything to win the war.
She shook her head, "I wish it were that simple. Few know the gods' wrath, I hope it stays that way." She spoke with a tone of someone who knew, unintentionally of course. She didn't want Raven to learn of her secret. Sometimes she wished she didn't know as much as she did. Sometimes she wished she could be as ignorant as the loner before her. But her years of time on Phera had created a god who knew all too well that which happened on the world. She glanced up after her gaze had drifted downward, and focused once again on the wolf in front of her.
"So, Raven, do you intend to stay in the Nerque pack lands very long?" a smile flirted with her features as she looked at him. The pale blue of her eyes catching the sunlight and shining brightly as if it were glowing from within. The grin that curve her mouth was once again flirtatious, her emotions flipping back to a calm and relaxed atmosphere. They were like the sea, flowing and ebbing away like the tides.
